Key deliverables and targets
- 4 in-depth case study reports on EU interventions in Georgia, Mali, Ukraine and Yemen [D3.2- D3.5]; validated by local practitioners directly involved in field-level interventions, and informed by EU Policy Briefings on case study countries [D2.8]. Desk review of documented case studies beyond focus countries [D3.1]
- Comparative analyses leading to four peer reviewed scholarly articles focusing on lessons learned in the areas of multi-track diplomacy, SSR and civilian-military synergies, and governance reform [D4.13-D4.15]
- An online community where the evidence base and results of the project are shared [D6.2], monitored and moderated to track participation levels and promote an exchange of views.
- An in-depth research report drawing conclusions on strengths, challenges and opportunities of EU interventions in conflict prevention and peacebuilding [D4.16].
Key deliverables and targets
- Review of EU institutional and policy context - Brussels [D4.6]
- Catalogue of best practices and lessons learned [D4.7 – D4.11] covering 5 cross-cutting themes, through reports and online resources and exchanges, supported by an online community which will be monitored and moderated; [D6.2]
- A globally established Community of Practice through events and online engagement on local ownership, gender, civilian-military synergies, and coherence [D4.1 – D4.5]
- Stakeholder dialogues on cross-cutting themes and how they match/compare with the assessment of clusters, with policy stakeholders consulted in the research process [D4.3];
- Research report [D4.6] informed by peer review will include multi-level (international, regional, national and sub-national) policymakers.
Key deliverables and targets:
- Roundtable meetings in case study countries (4), involving a cross-section of stakeholders [D5.1-5.4], including EU regional representation, local and (where relevant) international security sector representatives, relevant regional organisation, local UN agency, local civil society (including women's organisations), relevant local government agencies
- Policy Recommendations Paper [D5.5], tailored and translated, and included in video [D6.8]. Through its dissemination plan and communication strategy [WP6], policymakers and governmental actors will receive the briefs on the themes, such as civil-military synergies and technologies;
- Policy dialogues in EU member states, eg. [D5.6] in Paris, Madrid, Berlin, London, and The Hague [D5.7-D5.10]
- International conference in Brussels [D5.11], including at least 50 participants and reaching a wider audience via live stream
Key deliverables and targets:
- Scoping studies defining state of the art and research gaps in relation to 5 cross-cutting themes and 3 clusters [D2.1 – D2.8]
- Theoretical and methodology framework paper [D2.9], Methodology workshop [D2.10]; Indicator: improved research capacity in case study countries; trained local partners and associates in new research methods, defined and consolidated research questions [D4.6]
- Research report [D4.6] including an outline of future trajectories for research
- Expansion of a database documenting instances of technology use for collecting data, sharing information and gaming changes in practice; Peer reviews from Build Peace conferences 2015 and 2016, and civilian-military knowledge platforms.
- Training and guidance notes including in new technologies, as a knowledge resource
Output
The WOSCAP project will result in a number of outputs, including a working paper series, a catalogue of best practices organised in an interactive online platform, case study reports, policy briefs and policy recommendations. Measures to maximise the impact and reach of the project include a dissemination strategy using on and off-line means such as seminars, roundtables, a website and online community, and a final conference.
