Inception Workshop in The Hague, June 2015

Ten civil society organisations have jointly launched the WOSCAP project on June 22, 2015 aimed at enhancing the capabilities of the European Union for implementing conflict prevention and peacebuilding interventions through sustainable, comprehensive and innovative civilian means. The project, entitled Whole-Of-Society Conflict Prevention And Peacebuilding (WOSCAP) is funded by the European Union under the Horizon 2020 framework.

The WOSCAP consortium consists of ten institutional partners, including five leading academic institutions in Europe – Utrecht University; Berghof Foundation; Escola de Cultura de Pau, Barcelona Autonomous University; Institute for Research and Education on Negotiation, ESSEC Business School; London School of Economics and Political Science – and four in case study countries: Institute of World Policy, Political Development Forum, Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, Université des Sciences Juridiques et Politiques de Bamako.

The project intends to address some of the dilemmas and paradoxes of external interventions that aim for local ownership in third countries, by exploring principles, processes and tools that can enhance EU capabilities. This will be achieved through the project's Review, Reflect, Recommend and Innovate objectives.
